Your emails, 1:1. Then better.

Short answer

Before Caliber Email builds a new email for your brand, it will rebuild the emails you already send, section by section, and calibrate its score with your team until the two agree. Then it will propose improvements, one at a time, for your team to accept. That onboarding is what the one-off implementation fee pays for.

This page describes a promise, not a result. Caliber will say “1:1” only once it has measured how often its rebuilds pass the strict test below. Until then, the examples use Holm Coffee, a fictional demo brand.

A Holm Coffee email and its rebuild side by side, section by section: four sections accepted, one approximate, one an image, under the four tests content, style, side by side and mail apps.

01 / The four tests

What will 1:1 mean?

A rebuilt email will count as 1:1 when it matches the original on four tests. Each section of your email will become a layout in your workspace, and each layout will be tested against the emails it came from.

  • Content

    What has to match
Every word, link, image, alt text and personalisation field, exactly
    Holm Coffee example
The headline “The Guji harvest is in”, the link to the Guji page, the alt text “A bag of Guji beans on a café counter”
  • Style

    What has to match
Colours, font sizes, line heights and image widths; padding within 1 px
    Holm Coffee example
The headline in Holm Serif at 30 px on a 36 px line, Roast on Crema
  • Side by side

    What has to match
Original and rebuild compared pixel by pixel, at desktop and phone width, in two browser engines
    Holm Coffee example
Each of the six sections, masthead to footer, cropped and compared on its own
  • Mail apps

    What has to match
Once per layout, in the main versions of Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail, light and dark, with a reviewer’s sign-off
    Holm Coffee example
The hero layout, signed off once by a reviewer, then reused in every later email

02 / The rebuild

How will Caliber rebuild your emails?

From the connection your ESP admin grants, Caliber will read how your brand builds email today: the templates, the saved content blocks and the campaigns you have sent.

Each section will become a layout made of bands, columns, text, images, buttons and dividers, held as your brand’s data. No one will write custom code for your brand.

  • Accepted in advance.

A section that passes will be accepted in advance, shown beside its originals.

  • Approximate, with the reason.

A section that comes close will be listed as approximate, with the reason.

  • Becomes an image.

A shape no layout can express will become an image, with alt text from its words and one link, and will be listed too.

Your team will then review only the exceptions: accept, merge, rename or drop each one.

03 / Fixed, not copied

What gets fixed instead of copied?

A defect in the original will be fixed, not reproduced.

Nothing changes without your team seeing it.

Where your email breaks in a mail app, gets cut off by Gmail’s size limit, or has text that is hard to read against its background, the rebuild will differ only to fix it.

Each difference will be recorded and shown to you.

04 / Calibration

How will calibration work?

Calibration makes Caliber’s review agree with your team’s. Caliber and your team will score the same 30–50 emails until the two agree.

  1. Your team will label each email.

Send as is, send after fixes, or not us.

  2. Blind pairs will ask “Which did we send?”

So the test is your team’s judgement, not Caliber’s.

  3. Every disagreement will lead to a rule change.

Or to a recorded reason to keep the rule. A score is never edited.

  4. A native reader per market will join.

Where the brand writes natively or uses formal address.

Recalibrated every quarter.

The scoring will be recalibrated against your recent sends every quarter. How Caliber writes and scores in your brand explains the score itself.

Calibration configures your workspace; it doesn’t train or fine-tune a model on your content.

05 / Then better

Then better: what changes after the rebuild?

Once your emails are rebuilt, Caliber will hold them to a fixed list of what a well-made email has to survive, and propose fixes for failures nobody sees until a reader does.

  1. Dark mode

Dark mode that hides a logo or turns text unreadable.

  2. Gmail drops styles

Layouts that fall apart when Gmail drops the styles.

  3. Gmail clips

Emails long enough for Gmail to clip.

  4. Images off

Buttons and offers that vanish when images are off.

  5. Screen readers

Emails a screen reader cannot follow.

Each proposal will be a change to your design data, shown with a render before and after, and your team accepts or declines it. Changes to your logo, palette or type will be separate decisions, and each one defaults to “Keep current”.

06 / The implementation fee

What does the implementation fee pay for?

It pays for the rebuild and the calibration. The implementation is one-off, per brand and always paid: it is the work that turns your brand into the system every later email is built in.

  • Your brand profile.

Your brand guide and 6–12 months of past sends, set up as a versioned brand profile.

  • Each market’s rules.

Legal copy, currency and form of address.

  • Your blocks.

    Rebuilt and approved.

  • Calibration.

    On your past emails.

  • The ESP connection.

Test sends from your ESP, and a two-hour training session.

What each tier’s implementation sets up.

Prices are shared on the walkthrough. The tier follows how your emails get made and signed off, and what each tier includes is on the pricing page. For the Production tier, the implementation is the six-week pilot.

07 / Questions

Questions

Does Caliber reproduce our emails 1:1 today?

Not yet. 1:1 is what the onboarding is being built to do, and Caliber will claim it only after measuring how often rebuilds pass the four tests. Until then this page uses fictional examples.

Do we have to redesign our emails first?

No. The rebuild starts from the emails you already send. Nothing in your design changes until your team accepts a proposal.

What if part of an email can’t be rebuilt?

It will become an image with alt text and one link, and it will be listed with the reason, so your team knows exactly which sections are approximate.

Does calibration train an AI model on our emails?

No. Calibration configures your workspace; it doesn’t train or fine-tune a model on your content. Your past emails are used in your workspace only.
