Voyado in several languages and markets.

Short answer

Voyado Engage sends one email to several markets through marketing groups. Each group sets a country, an optional language, price formatting, a time zone and a product feed, and gets its own variant of the email in Design Studio. Bonnie can translate the variants on the Extended AI add-on. Caliber integrates with Voyado.

How does Voyado handle email for several markets?

Through marketing groups and Design Studio: you build one base email and localize a variant for each marketing group, and each contact receives their group's variant [1][7]. In the classic editor, localization meant duplicate emails and one automation flow per market; the new workflow uses one email activity for all markets. The editors run side by side, and classic emails do not migrate automatically [5].

The help centre is still called Voyado Engage; current articles call the product Customer Engagement [1]. Voyado describes itself as built for European retailers, with offices across Sweden and in London, Amsterdam and Munich [17]. Its examples read Nordic: one names a group "Finland: Swedish" [3].

What does a Voyado marketing group control?

Almost everything a market differs by, except the words. You create groups in Config Hub, under the Administration cog. A Default group already exists and cannot be removed [3]. A group can cover several countries but only ever has one language, because one variant goes to the whole group [2].

The settings on a Voyado marketing group, and what to watch for each
SettingWhat it doesWhat to watch
Country (required)A contact from this country joins, unless a higher-priority group took them [3]Every contact needs a country code [5]
Language (optional)Narrows the group to contacts in that country who use this language [3]Only contacts with a value in lang can be sorted by language [3]
PriorityPriority 1 is highest; a contact gets the first group it matches [2][4]Put groups with language rules first [4]
Time zoneA send scheduled for 8 am goes out at 8 am in the recipient's time [3]One schedule, several local send times
Language for translation and regional formattingLocale for Bonnie translations and for number, date and price formats [3]A custom price format is available when the standard one does not fit [3]
Base URL for linksA base URL per market with the same end path [3]Does not work for URLs translated per language [3]
Product feedOne feed per group, in a standard XML format such as Google Merchant Center [1][3]Custom feed fixes such as XSLT need a word with Voyado support [5]

Groups start as Draft, so you can localize emails before contacts are assigned. An active group takes new contacts at once and re-sorts existing ones overnight; setting it to Inactive deletes it for good [4]. Change groups sparingly: a new country, language or priority on an active group re-sorts every contact [3].

Which marketing group does each contact get?

The first one, in priority order, whose country and language match the contact; anyone who matches none lands in Default [2][4]. The contact fields behind this are countryCode, in ISO 3166-1 alpha-2, and lang, in ISO 639-1. Voyado's developer docs say lang exists because some countries, such as Belgium, use more than one language [6]. Use the standard language attribute, not a custom one [5]. A contact who is added or updated is sorted at once [2].

Two consequences follow. A language group with a poorly filled lang attribute ends up too small or empty [3]. And Default is not your home market: it holds whoever matched nothing, so configure its product feed and base URL too, as Voyado advises [3].

How does localization work in Design Studio?

You design once and localize per group. Design mode builds the shared base message: modules, layout and styling. Localization mode adjusts it for one marketing group at a time: translate copy, replace images, update links, or hide modules that do not apply in that market [7]. Text, image and link changes stay in the selected group [8].

Inheritance is the part to understand. Every variant inherits updates from the base message until someone edits that element in Localization mode. After that, later Design mode changes no longer reach it in that market [7]. A globe icon marks localized elements, and Revert localization restores an element to the base design. Reverting the top Email Settings node reverts most of the email, all but the sender settings and subject line [7].

Does Voyado translate emails for you?

Yes, with Bonnie, Voyado's AI, on the Extended AI add-on. Voyado's product updates list AI Translations in Design Studio as generally available for Extended AI customers on 2 Sep 2026, and for all Design Studio channels on 13 Oct 2026 [13]. Setup happens in Config Hub, under Language & tone rules: a brand voice, set generally or per market, and a glossary of terms that Bonnie applies exactly as written [11].

You translate to all included markets or to one marketing group. Manual edits in a market stay in place when you retranslate, unless you tick Replace existing translations, which overwrites them [10]. Text inside images is not translated [10]; merge tags and personalization fields are left unchanged [12]. Treat Bonnie's output as a draft and review each market before you publish.

How do you keep legal lines and footers per market in Voyado?

In a synced footer module, localized per marketing group. A synced module pushes saved changes everywhere it is used, except in content already sent [9]. Voyado notes that headers and footers are usually the modules saved as synced, and each module can carry localized content per group [8][1].

That reach cuts both ways: one saved edit to a synced footer reaches every market that uses it, reviewed or not [9]. And a legal line follows the market, not the language. A Swedish speaker in Finland needs the Finnish company line, which is why countries that share a language can still need separate groups [2].

The unsubscribe page is the other piece. Its standard text appears in the visitor's browser language, with English as the fallback. Custom text shows in one language only [14].

How do prices and currencies work per market?

Through each group's product feed and formatting. Prices from a product feed or an order follow the group's culture setting or a custom price format [15]. Feeds should use standard tags such as price, sale_price and name [5]. One exception: the Reward voucher reminder data source does not support local currency, so with several currencies use the Reward voucher data source instead [15].

One sendout for all markets, or one per market?

Voyado's design favours one sendout with a variant per group, instead of a sendout per market, and statistics now show each variant's marketing group [2][7]. Holm Coffee is a fictional demo brand. Its fixture has three markets, with three languages, three currencies and different price-reduction rule scopes. Mapped to Voyado:

Holm Coffee's three markets, mapped to Voyado marketing groups and Design Studio variants
MarketLanguage and currencyFixture rule scopeMarketing groupIts variant
DK (home market)da, DKKPending in the fixtureCountry DKThe base message, written in Danish, with the Danish legal line
SEsv, SEKAny reduction claimCountry SESwedish copy; any "20% off" line triggers the scope; legal line pending in the fixture
DEde, EURProduct prices shownCountry DEGerman copy; the footer needs an Impressum link the Danish base does not carry
Everyone elseWhatever Default is set toNone in the fixtureDefaultInherits the base message unless someone localizes it [7]

The trap sits in inheritance. Change the offer headline in Design mode after someone localized the Swedish headline, and Sweden keeps the old offer while Denmark and Germany change [7]. A workable rule: localize copy freely, but when an offer, price or legal line changes, check every variant by hand. The rule scopes above are fixture data, not legal advice.

Where do reviews happen in Voyado?

In Design Studio, before you publish. Test Mail sends a test to your team, and Preview with Data shows dynamic content [16]; a segmentation can also feed the preview [13]. The last published version is the one that sends. Recipients are segmented from one hour before the local send time, and an edit published mid-send reaches only later batches and markets [16].

Caliber and Voyado

Caliber integrates with Voyado. Voyado can't receive drafts by API, so for each market Caliber will prepare a hand-off package from one approved brief: the HTML for a Design Studio Code element, the subject and preview text, the personalisation fields mapped to Voyado's, an image list and a checklist, after a named person's sign-off. Caliber also integrates with Klaviyo, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next, Customer.io and Iterable.

Questions

Does Voyado support emails in several languages?

Yes, in Design Studio. You set up a marketing group per market, or per language within a market, and localize a variant of one email for each group. Each contact receives the variant for their group, chosen by country and, optionally, the lang attribute [1][2][3].

What happens to Voyado contacts who match no marketing group?

They go to the Default group, which always has the lowest priority and cannot be removed. Default gets its own variant, so set its language, product feed and base URL deliberately [2][3][4].

Does Bonnie overwrite my translations?

Not by default. Manual edits in a market stay in place when you retranslate. Only the Replace existing translations option overwrites them [10]. Bonnie translation needs the Extended AI add-on and marketing groups for each market and language [11].

Can one Voyado environment hold several brands?

Voyado says it works if the brands share styles, team modules and templates, and gets messy if they share none. It recommends starting with one brand, and lists separating styles and modules by brand as on its roadmap [5].
